Yoshitomo Nara

Yoshitomo Nara (b. 1959) is a Japanese contemporary artist best known for his distinctive paintings and sculptures of children with oversized heads and expressive, often defiant eyes. Blending influences from manga, punk music, and Japanese popular culture, Nara’s seemingly simple figures convey a complex range of emotions, from innocence and vulnerability to loneliness and rebellion.
