Our new Disney x THE SKATEROOM collection explores that duality head-on.
Working from iconic film stills from Snow White, Alice in Wonderland, and Fantasia, we reimagined nostalgia as a space where innocence and experience collide. Disney’s imagery has always danced between enchantment and eeriness. We chose to reveal both.
Nostalgia and Tension
A visual dialogue between: Blur and definition. Dream and reason. Soft light and sharp anxiety.
Pastel hues and diffuse edges conjure the effortless joy of childhood imagination. But look closer: dense shadows and graphic halftones interrupt the reverie, visual reminders of the fears we absorb as we grow up.
Three Mediums, Three Expressions
We translated this tension across three distinct canvases: on wood, shadows take precedence. On silk, they are supplanted by light. On the blankets, the very weave, coarse and faded, expresses the tension.
The resulting aesthetic oscillates between innocence and experience, yet when observed from a distance, the sharp anxiety recedes, leaving only the soft, enduring echo of joyful memory.
