A collaboration rooted in the exhibition
THE SKATEROOM is proud to unveil a new collection developed with Anne Imhof, launched in close collaboration with Serralves Museum in Porto. The release accompanies Fun ist ein Stahlbad, Imhof’s first solo exhibition in Portugal, and extends the conceptual framework of the exhibition into a series of limited-edition skate decks and apparel pieces.
Anne Imhof’s Practice
Anne Imhof is known for building immersive, emotionally charged environments where performance, image, sound and architecture collide. Her work often explores power structures, vulnerability, control and resistance, unfolding through long durations and layered visual languages. Fun ist ein Stahlbad continues this approach, transforming the museum into a space of tension and exposure, where bodies, gestures and atmospheres remain in constant negotiation.

Fun ist ein Stahlbad
The title, translating loosely to “fun is a steel bath”, carries a deliberate ambiguity. Pleasure and violence, release and constraint coexist, echoing the physical and psychological states that run through Imhof’s practice. The exhibition unfolds across Serralves as a total environment rather than a single narrative, inviting visitors into a space that feels both seductive and unsettling.
From exhibition to objects
The collection developed with THE SKATEROOM draws directly from this universe. The skate decks triptych feature cloud-like, almost immaterial surfaces, shifting from pale greys to deep blues and burning reds. Each deck functions as part of a larger visual rhythm.
Alongside the decks, a t-shirt and hat complete the collection, carrying the collaboration credits with THE SKATEROOM and Serralves, anchoring the pieces within the context of the show.
