Buying Guide
What is an art edition?

Art editions are highly collectible artworks created in direct collaboration with the artist and/or their studio and available in collections of various numbers. As opposed to original artworks, editions are more accessible and affordable, allowing a broader pool of collectors the chance to invest in work from their favorite artist.

What types of editions are there?
  • Limited Editions: Exclusive artist collaborations & limited runs. We collaborate with contemporary living artists and brands on exclusive drops and special projects. These skateboard decks are released in limited numbers, offering rare, sought-after pieces that reflect cutting-edge artistry and creativity. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
  • Classics: Timeless skateboard decks honoring art legends. Discover art editions on iconic skateboard decks featuring timeless designs from legendary artists and foundations. This collection includes artworks from renowned late artists and living legends, celebrating their influence in skate culture and the art world. Perfect for any collector. These editions are not limited, which means that an indefinite number can be produced and restocked over the course of a set period. Newsletter subscribers get first updates on when that period is nearing an end.
  • Original Artworks: Unique skate deck paintings from renowned artists. Explore one-of-a-kind Original Artworks — skateboard decks transformed into unique paintings and creations by world-renowned artists. These collectible pieces bridge the gap between art and skate culture, offering you a truly distinctive addition to your collection. The most exclusive pieces in each collection, from the artist straight to your wall.
  • Time Limited Edition: a timed release allows us to sell a skate art edition for a set period of time. Once the window ends, the release won't be available to buy anymore.
Can I ride the deck?

While you could definitely skate on them if you wanted to, we provide you with one wall mount per deck to hang them on your wall, just like a painting. Please note that if you do decide to skate the edition, its warranty is automatically voided.

Are there any display restrictions?

Direct exposure to sunlight might result in discoloration and damage to your editions. To avoid this, we strongly suggest hanging your art-decks away from direct natural light.

How to take care of your edition?

Dust your edition gently with a microfiber cloth as needed. Avoid exposure to chemicals and direct sunlight as these might cause surface damage and discoloration.

What is a hand-signed edition?

“Hand-signed” refers to the original signature of the artist. Certain limited editions and original artworks feature this signature in addition to other types of printed artist branding.

How much is donated?

B Corp Certified

In 2019, THE SKATEROOM received a B Corp Certification. Certified B Corps are distinguishing themselves in a cluttered marketplace by offering a more transparent, ethical and positive approach to business. At THE SKATEROOM, we have been practicing engaged consumption and responsible product manufacturing from day one. Becoming a certified B Corporation was not a question, but the logical next step in our evolution.

How are our boards made?

The sourcing of our boards is something we take very seriously. We work exclusively with Grade A Maple from certified sustainable forests in Canada. We are also CO2 neutral and use water-based ink for our prints.

How do we ensure the sustainability of the projects we support?

When selecting projects for funding, we implement eligibility requirements and keep regular track of their  maintenance through requesting impact measurement reports, activity reports every trimester, organizing on-site visits and regular calls, as well as keeping close contact with the project leaders.

Who do we support?

Through 10% of our sales, we predominantly finance social projects that use skateboarding as a tool for at-risk global youth empowerment, building new skateparks and developing education facilities and resource programs.

How much funding have we donated so far?

Since our launch in 2014, we have proudly funded more than $1,650,000 in support of various social projects.

How does our social impact model work?

Social impact is at the core of who we are and what we stand for. Working with our partners, we help empower at-risk youth, build new skateparks and develop education facilities & resource programs through donating 10% of all sales directly to them.

THE SKATEROOM: social business or social enterprise?

We strive to be a leading example of the social enterprise category. With a growing environmental, humanitarian and economical crisis, we believe for-profit companies share a moral obligation to address global challenges as a united front. As a social enterprise, we are creating new relationships by engaging different stakeholders with complementary competencies: artists, art-buyers, and social projects empowering disadvantaged youths. Our motivation is to show that a company can do things differently through supporting communities, minimizing its environmental impact while being profitable in order to inspire other traditional businesses to follow the same path.

CO2 neutral - what does it mean?

As defined by the UK department of Energy and Climate Change, “carbon neutral” means that – through a transparent process of calculating emissions, reducing those emissions and offsetting residual emissions – net carbon emissions equal zero. Since 2016, THE SKATEROOM is CO2-Neutral certified through an external audit conducted by CO2 Logic.
