Hikari Shimoda: Between Worlds & Wonder
We are proud to present our newest collaboration with Hikari Shimoda — a Japanese contemporary artist whose work exists in a space between childhood innocence and existential wonder, between the mundane and the mythic.
Shimoda's figures are instantly recognizable: wide-eyed children with luminous gazes that seem to see beyond the frame, surrounded by flowers, cosmic debris, and the quiet weight of something just out of reach. Her paintings ask questions that don't have answers — and somehow, that feels exactly right.
This collection brings six of her most beloved works into physical form, spanning two limited-edition giclée prints and four skate deck editions — each one a miniature canvas of her singular visual universe.
"Her work asks us to sit with the sublime — not to resolve it, but to inhabit it."
Skate Editions
Four works from Shimoda's ongoing series make their debut as collector skate decks. Each deck is produced on premium maple with archival-quality printing, capturing the full tonal depth and fine detail of the original paintings. They're objects to be hung, collected, and admired — though we won't stop you if you ride them.
- Whereabouts of God #36 — From the series exploring divinity and childhood perception
- Whereabouts of God #33 — Deep reds and cosmic longing in Shimoda's signature palette
- Whereabouts of God #32 — A quiet figure lost in the gravity of unseen forces
Blue Horns, White Scarf — Otherworldly tenderness rendered in porcelain light
Giclée Prints
Complementing the deck editions, two works are available as fine art giclée prints — produced on heavyweight cotton rag with museum-grade archival inks. Tamukeru #2 and God Is Dead But #35 are among Shimoda's most emotionally resonant pieces, each one a meditation on mortality, beauty, and the strange grace of being alive.
- Tamukeru #2 (giclée print) — An offering — of flowers, of self, of everything uncertain
- God Is Dead But #35 (giclée print) — Grief and wonder held together with impossible gentleness
All editions in this collection are strictly limited. The skate decks and prints are produced to the highest archival standards, ensuring they remain as vivid a decade from now as they are today. Once they're gone, they're gone.
Hikari Shimoda continues to exhibit internationally, with a practice rooted in Japanese pop culture, existential philosophy, and an unshakeable belief that beauty is its own form of protest. We are honored to carry her work.
