Sharp Tongue by contemporary painter Jen DeLuna captures a striking close-up of a dog caught in a moment of tension. The animal’s head is turned mid-movement, its mouth slightly open as if barking or baring its teeth, while soft painterly streaks blur the scene into a dynamic, almost cinematic image.
DeLuna’s work often explores emotion through fragmented or fleeting moments, using distortion and motion to transform familiar subjects into psychologically charged compositions. In this piece, the animal’s gesture becomes a metaphor for instinct, confrontation, or raw expression.
The dark background isolates the figure, while the warm pink tones of the dog’s body contrast sharply with the surrounding shadow. Subtle light flecks scattered across the surface add texture and movement, reinforcing the sensation of a fleeting instant captured in paint.
Printed as a limited and numbered edition of 50, Sharp Tongue translates DeLuna’s expressive figurative painting into a collectible contemporary art print.
A compelling work for collectors of contemporary figurative art, expressive animal portraiture, and emotionally charged painting.
