The intention behind Walead Beshty’s work is the exploration of the relationship between images and the world in which they produce meaning. The Copper Surrogate series sees Beshty produce works made of copper specifically for the purpose of exploiting the space in which they are to be exhibited. Additionally, the artist explores the interaction that occurs between the works and the installers that set them in place, revealed only through the distinct oxidation patterns they leave behind. THE SKATEROOM is privileged to release this limited series of original copper decks by Walead Beshty.
