Popeye Skateboard,
Jeff KOONS

Jeff Koons, one of the leading artists in the world, reinterprets a detail of his 2008 oil painting Triple Popeye, a layered and hand-painted composition with the iconic cartoon character, Popeye. Here we see the fictional sailor clutching a can of spinach, his life-force, and posing triumphantly amid colorful gestures and a reflective silver line drawing to give a sense of movement. Popeye Skateboard, 2021, utilises a triptych of skateboards as its canvas.

“Popeye is about an image of, ‘I am what I am.’ Kind of a symbol of self-acceptance that you have to embrace who you are. Popeye has his spinach. Spinach brings about his transcendence, and brings about his power. That’s what art [is]. Art is our spinach.” – JEFF KOONS

Buying guide

CoA is short for certificate of authenticity. CoA’s are either signed by the artist or THE SKATEROOM in order to validate the editions. It is specificied on each product page if a CoA is provided with the edition.

“Printed Signature on the deck” refers to the printed signature of the artist included on the top-print. Most decks feature this printed signature, though some specified editions can also feature a hand signed artist signature.

We make a commitment to the social projects we fund: at least 10% of our revenue goes directly to them. Working with our partners, we help empower at-risk youth, build new skateparks and develop education facilities & resource programs. Since 2014, we have generated over $1,500,000 to support social projects around the world.

In 2019, we became a Certified B Corporation. THE SKATEROOM is also CO2 neutral, chooses to source its skateboard wood from certified sustainable forests, and uses water-based ink for its prints.

These editions of artwork are intended for decorative purposes. While you could definitely skate on them if you wanted to, we provide you with one wall mount per deck to hang them on your wall, just like a painting.

We provide you with everything you need to hang your boards up. With your edition purchase you will receive the EasyFix wall mounts. It’s really easy to set up and you can find all the instructions right here. You can always upgrade to the premium SnapDisplay wall mounts.

Our team is also always ready to help if you have any additional questions.

Direct exposure to sunlight might result in discoloration and damage to your editions. To avoid this, we strongly suggest hanging your art-decks away from direct natural light.

THE SKATEROOM makes art accessible to everyone by delivering WORLDWIDE from our warehouse in Belgium.

We do ship our artwork using UPS EXPRESS for fast delivery. Shipping estimates will be provided in the checkout process, once you enter your delivery address. Typically we process and ship your order within 48 hours (except for editions in pre-orders). You will get a tracking number to follow your shipment. It usually takes 2-5 additional business days to arrive with UPS express, depending on your location.

Please note that some non-EU countries do charge additional customs fees. We recommend you to check with your local authorities.
