Balloon Venus Skateboard,Jeff KOONS
Internationally recognized American-artist, Jeff Koons is paying homage to the Venus of Willendorf in his Balloon Venus Skateboard. In his Antiquity series, Koons reimagined the ancient limestone figurine as a balloon. The venus is transformed into a large-scale reflective stainless steel sculpture in a contemporary way but reinvisioned for today. Here we see the piece appear on skateboards presented as a diptych.

Jeff KOONS
Jeff KOONS is an American artist whose work examines popular culture, often in the form of paintings and sculptures that transform everyday images and objects into works of art that engage the viewer. Most recognizable among these are his balloon animals produced in stainless steel with mirror-finish surfaces.
Born in York, Pennsylvania in 1955; Jeff Koons studied at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1976. Since his first solo exhibition in 1980, Koons’ work has been shown in major galleries and institutions throughout the world. He lives and works in New York City.
Jeff KOONS has been a board member of The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC) since 2002, and co-founded the Koons Family International Law and Policy Institute with ICMEC; for the purpose of combating global issues of child abduction and exploitation and to protect the world’s children. With this inaugural collaboration with Jeff Koons and Qatar Museums, we pledge 10% of the revenue from a limited skateboard art edition collection to funding ICMEC, as well as MazunteSk8 Park – a project to build a public skatepark for young people in Oaxaca, Mexico.
“I wanted to have the boards be unique. They’re of this moment. We’re celebrating the exhibition that is taking place in Doha, Qatar, and these works will be in that exhibition. The Popeye Skateboard uses a reflective foil in the piece. Balloon Venus Skateboard has a visual reflection within the image itself. All these aspects are important to my work and I have continued to try to define why I work with reflection and how important I believe it is that we are able to feel the confidence within ourselves.”

CoA is short for certificate of authenticity. CoA’s are either signed by the artist or THE SKATEROOM in order to validate the editions. It is specificied on each product page if a CoA is provided with the edition.
“Printed Signature on the deck” refers to the printed signature of the artist included on the top-print. Most decks feature this printed signature, though some specified editions can also feature a hand signed artist signature.
We make a commitment to the social projects we fund: at least 10% of our revenue goes directly to them. Working with our partners, we help empower at-risk youth, build new skateparks and develop education facilities & resource programs. Since 2014, we have generated over $1,500,000 to support social projects around the world.
In 2019, we became a Certified B Corporation. THE SKATEROOM is also CO2 neutral, chooses to source its skateboard wood from certified sustainable forests, and uses water-based ink for its prints.
These editions of artwork are intended for decorative purposes. While you could definitely skate on them if you wanted to, we provide you with one wall mount per deck to hang them on your wall, just like a painting.
We provide you with everything you need to hang your boards up. With your edition purchase you will receive the EasyFix wall mounts. It’s really easy to set up and you can find all the instructions right here. You can always upgrade to the premium SnapDisplay wall mounts.

Direct exposure to sunlight might result in discoloration and damage to your editions. To avoid this, we strongly suggest hanging your art-decks away from direct natural light.
