The Artist
Jenny Holzer
Jenny Holzer (b. 1950, Gallipolis, Ohio) is an American conceptual artist whose groundbreaking practice places language at the center of public life. Since the late 1970s, she has presented original and appropriated texts through posters, LED signs, projections, paintings, plaques, and public installations, transforming everyday spaces into platforms for reflection and debate.
Holzer’s incisive texts address power, violence, war, inequality, sexuality, and human rights, often challenging audiences to reconsider the messages and assumptions that surround them. Her work has been presented at major institutions and international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale, Tate Modern, the Guggenheim museums, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
