Judy Chicago is an American artist, author, educator, feminist, and humanist whose career now spans five decades. Over that time, the artist has approached a variety of subjects in a range of media, including the Birth Project, PowerPlay, the Holocaust Project: From Darkness into Light, and Resolutions: A Stitch in Time. Her most recent body of work, The End: A Meditation on Death and Extinction, will premier at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in September, 2019

Judy Chicago is one of the most significant artists of modern times. Her work has been essential in creating a space for feminism within the art world and continues to empower women of all walks of life. Her influence is made clear by her inclusion in countless publications throughout the world, both within and beyond the art world. With another successful headline exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art of Miami now over, and major solo exhibitions planned for 2019 and 2020, Chicago’s career is a testament to her resilience; her success, a reminder of how far society has come.

Yet, with the recent opposition faced when Chicago sought to open a museum in Belen, New Mexico, we are reminded that there’s a long way to go. Chicago’s road to self-discovery is paved with confrontations and obstacles that have come to define her identity and work. Among several recent and upcoming honors, Time magazine considers her one of the 100 Most Influential People of 2018. A few months shy from turning 80, Judy Chicago is showing us all that she’s still got it.

For this collaboration, THE SKATEROOM presents 3 editions inspired by Judy Chicago’s work for a very limited run of 50 art decks per visual: Dark ripple and Light ripple solo skate decks, and Butterfly triptych.

From the sales of these editions, THE SKATEROOM commits 5% of the turnover to fund the organization, Free Movement Skateboarding, and the implementation of their women’s program in Athens, Greece. Additionally, Judy Chicago has waived her artist royalties allowing us to donate an extra 5% to fund the artist’s non-profit, Through The Flower. The organization’s mission is to educate the greater public about the importance of art and its power in asserting women’s achievements in history and culture.
