Whether you’re designing a summery, playful and exuberant interior, or a minimalist space in need of a pop of color - we have just the art you need. Take a look through some of THE SKATEROOM’s summer design staples:

Composed using the popular American life simulation video game ‘The Sims’, the individual panels of the Home Sweet Home: Sunflower Pool Skateboard triptych were painted by a different painter found on the Chinese e-commerce platform, Taobao. The resulting differences between each panel disrupt the serene and dream-like atmosphere of this rooftop paradise, a startling reminder of the discrepancies between fantasy and reality.

HOME SWEET HOME: SUNFLOWER POOL SKATEBOARD ORIGINAL ARTWORK - MAK2

Jules DE BALINCOURT is known internationally for colorful, radiant paintings that meditate on the social, political, and cultural dynamics of an increasingly globalized world. Limited edition and hand-signed, THE SKATEROOM is proud to present de Balincourt’s ‘New Arrivals’ is one such meditation, described by the artist himself as a reference to growing up in California. Reminiscent of Hockney’s pools, Jules claims to have a less optimistic view than Hockney – this is no longer the hopefulness of the 60s/70s. Today, there is an environmental catastrophe, mortgage foreclosures; this is generation X’s interpretation of the pool as an icon. But this is for the viewer to interpret for themselves. This art piece is released as a hand-signed triptych skateboard, in an edition size of 50.

ALMOND BLOSSOMS - VINCENT VAN GOGH

Composed using the popular American life simulation video game ‘The Sims’, the individual panels of the Home Sweet Home: Sunflower Pool Skateboard triptych were painted by a different painter found on the Chinese e-commerce platform, Taobao. The resulting differences between each panel disrupt the serene and dream-like atmosphere of this rooftop paradise, a startling reminder of the discrepancies between fantasy and reality.

Almond Blossoms is one of Vincent van Gogh’s best known paintings and is noteworthy in that both Van Gogh and his closest family held the work in high regard. This painting is one of a small handful that Van Gogh produced with a particular person in mind–in this case, his brother and sister-in-law’s newborn baby. Van Gogh was deeply moved when Theo and Johanna chose to name the child Vincent and he always harbored a great deal of affection for the child. Van Gogh painted Almond Blossoms to honor his namesake and it remains a tour-de-force, both the product of Vincent’s fondness for his nephew as well as the Japanese art which he so greatly admired.
