Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat Solo
Vincent Van Gogh often practiced figure painting by using himself as a model. Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat is the perfect example of that. Painted during the two years where he lived in Paris, the color experiment is said to be Van Gogh’s boldest over that period. The painting also showcases Van Gogh’s own take on pointillism, while portraying himself as of a man of the city in smart suit and hat.
