This 2022 Oil on Board portrait was added as a part of the Tear Drop series. This piece was created at the request of, “The Atlantic” magazine to assist in telling of the story of inmate C.J. Rice. Mr. Wash was contacted by the magazine because they saw similarities in both men’s stories. After reading how ineffective counsel cost this man decades of his life, Mr. Wash was moved to help tell his story. The men were able to speak to the over the phone and created a bond that helped depict the anguish of, a man “BEHIND THE GLASS”.
