Untitled #414 (Clown), hand-signed, 2003
Limited Edition of 50, hand-signed by Cindy Sherman
In Untitled #414, 2003, we find Cindy Sherman disguised as a clown, wrapped in turquoise robe bedazzled in sequins. Like so much of her work, this piece shows Cindy Sherman carefully manipulating her pose, gesture, costume and makeup, using lighting, and composition to create dramatic portraits of herself as a clown. Staged against backdrops of vivid color, Sherman’s Clowns series mixes the masquerade and the make believe, humor and horror. Is this image hysterical or unsettling? Is the character delighted or, beneath the makeup, deeply troubled?
Working with THE SKATEROOM, Sherman has released her work on the skateboard as a medium Limited edition of 50, and each edition is hand-signed by Cindy Sherman.
Thank you to Hauser & Wirth and Fondation Beyeler for making this collection possible.

- Limited Edition: editions available in defined quantities, a fixed number that will determine the amount of skate decks that will ever be produced for an artwork. All limited editions come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Some editions are also numbered on the top print — see product pictures. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
- Open Edition: these editions are not limited, which means that an indefinite number can be produced and restocked over the course of a set period. Newsletter subscribers get first updates on when that period is nearing an end.
- Original Artwork: usually hand-made by the artist and unique, these artworks are the most exclusive pieces in each collection. Coming in varied sizes and textures, they are rare collectibles from the artist straight to your wall.
- Time Limited Edition: a timed release allows us to sell a skate art edition for a set period of time. Once the window ends, the release won't be available to buy anymore.
CoA is short for certificate of authenticity. CoA’s are either signed by the artist or THE SKATEROOM in order to validate the editions. It is specificized on each product page if a CoA is provided with the edition.
You have up to 14 days after receiving your order to request a return. The 14-day return policy is applicable on all products except limited hand-signed editions.
Once you have informed us of your request, we will provide you with a return label so you can easily send us back the product in the same condition as when received, accompanied by the original packaging and documentation.
