Cleon Peterson’s series “Blood and Soils”, shown in July 2018 at Over the Influence in Los Angeles, is the inspiration behind the artworks for this collaboration. Peterson’s paintings, often chaotic and violent in nature, symbolize a struggle between power and submission within the structure of society. The artist seems to suggest that, although we have evolved, we are ultimately not very different from civilizations in the past.

Launched at ComplexCon 2018 in Los Angeles, these editions experienced a tremendous amount of success, and were sold out within a couple of hours. Hand signed CoA by the artist.

Cleon Peterson

Cleon Peterson (b. 1973, Seattle, USA) is an American artist based in Los Angeles whose bold, graphic paintings and prints depict scenes of violence, conflict, and power. His stylized figures, often rendered in stark, limited palettes, appear locked in perpetual struggles between domination and submission, reflecting the darker forces at work within contemporary society.

Drawing from Greek pottery, political propaganda, graphic design, and art history, Peterson creates compositions that are both immediate and confrontational. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, Palais de Tokyo, and Kaikai Kiki Gallery, and continues to explore the recurring cycles of power, control, and violence.
