Limited Edition of 250
No Title (The bright flatness), 2003,Raymond PETTIBON
In this first collaboration with American artist Raymond Pettibon, THE SKATEROOM explores the artist’s surfer-themed works to release two limited editions of 250: No Title (You have a clear…), 1990, and No Title (The bright flatness), 2003. Through these visuals, viewers ride along with a counterculture hero who, perhaps, is the artist’s nearest proxy.
The text on the artwork from MoMA’s collection, reads “The bright flatness of the California landscape needs a dark, vaulted interior.” Raymond Pettibon has over 300 works in the Museum’s collection.

In 2020, THE SKATEROOM collaborated with internationally acclaimed American artist Raymond Pettibon, David Zwirner Gallery, and MoMA Design Store to offer two iconic editions inspired by works from The Museum of Modern Art’s (MoMA) collection. In this first collaboration, we explored the artist’s surfer-themed works to release two limited editions of 250.
In our second collaboration, we continued to explore the artist’s surfer-themed works. This time, the set of six decks, takes on a bigger scale: No Title (I see the…), 2019. In the spirit of Hokusai’s wave, Pettibon illustrates the magnitude of Nature over Man. This limited skateboard edition of 50 is hand-signed on deck by Raymond Pettibon himself.
In 2021, we are partnering again with Raymond Pettibon, David Zwirner Gallery, and MoMA Design Store to explore the artist’s baseball-themed works to release two new limited editions: No Title (The raised hands…), 2013, and No Title (Boston Brave), 2017. Through these visuals, viewers witness Pettibon’s ability to narrow motion down to a single moment frozen in time.
Raymond Pettibon’s (b. 1957) influential oeuvre engages a wide spectrum of American iconography variously pulled from literature, art history, philosophy, religion, politics, sports, and alternative youth culture, among other sources. Intermixing image and text, his drawings engage the visual rhetoric of pop and commercial culture while incorporating language from mass media as well as classic texts by writers such as William Blake, Marcel Proust, and Walt Whitman. Through his exploration of the visual and critical potential of drawing, Pettibon’s practice harkens back to the traditions of satire and social critique in the work of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century artists and caricaturists such as William Hogarth, Gustave Doré, and Honoré Daumier, while reinforcing the importance of the medium within contemporary art and culture today.
Through our collaborations with Raymond Pettibon, we aim to raise $50,000 to fund the construction of Skateistan’s Skate School in Bamyan, Afghanistan.
Buying guide
“Printed Signature on the deck” refers to the printed signature of the artist included on the top-print. Most decks feature this printed signature, though some specified editions can also feature a hand signed artist signature.
These editions of artwork are intended for decorative purposes. While you could definitely skate on them if you wanted to, we provide you with one wall mount per deck to hang them on your wall, just like a painting.
Direct exposure to sunlight might result in discoloration and damage to your editions. To avoid this, we strongly suggest hanging your art-decks away from direct natural light.
You have up to 14 days after receiving your order to request a return. The 14-day return policy is applicable on all products except limited hand-signed editions. We will provide you with a return label to send us back the purchased edition in the same condition as when received, with the original packaging and documentation.
We make a commitment to the social projects we fund: at least 10% of our revenue goes directly to them. Working with our partners, we help empower at-risk youth, build new skateparks and develop education facilities & resource programs. Since 2014, we have generated over $1,500,000 to support social projects around the world.
In 2019, we became a Certified B Corporation. THE SKATEROOM is also CO2 neutral, chooses to source its skateboard wood from certified sustainable forests, and uses water-based ink for its prints.
We provide you with everything you need to hang your boards up. With your edition purchase you will receive the EasyFix wall mounts. It’s really easy to set up and you can find all the instructions right here. You can always upgrade to the premium SnapDisplay wall mounts.
Our team is also always ready to help if you have any additional questions.
THE SKATEROOM makes art accessible to everyone by delivering WORLDWIDE from our warehouse in Belgium.
We do ship our artwork using UPS EXPRESS for fast delivery. Shipping estimates will be provided in the checkout process, once you enter your delivery address. Typically we process and ship your order within 48 hours (except for editions in pre-orders). You will get a tracking number to follow your shipment. It usually takes 2-5 additional business days to arrive with UPS express, depending on your location.
Please note that some non-EU countries do charge additional customs fees. We recommend you to check with your local authorities.
CoA is short for certificate of authenticity. CoA’s are either signed by the artist or THE SKATEROOM in order to validate the editions. It is specificied on each product page if a CoA is provided with the edition.
