The Artist

Gabriel Orozco

Gabriel Orozco (b. 1962, Xalapa, Mexico) is a Mexican artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, photography, drawing, painting, installation, and video. Emerging internationally in the 1990s, Orozco is known for finding unexpected possibilities in everyday objects, environments, and situations, often transforming the ordinary through subtle interventions and playful acts of observation.

Drawing on Conceptualism, Mexican artistic traditions, and Marcel Duchamp’s readymades, Orozco explores the relationship between art and everyday life. His works often blur the boundaries between object, image, and environment, inviting viewers to reconsider familiar forms and discover new connections in the world around them.
