Lulu LIN

Poetry in Motion

Some artists tell stories through images. Others create worlds that feel suspended somewhere between memory, longing, humor, and dream. Taiwanese artist Lulu Lin belongs firmly to the latter.

THE SKATEROOM is proud to present our first collaboration with Lulu Lin: a collection of limited edition skate decks and fine art prints that brings together some of her most beloved works. Blending playful titles with emotionally resonant imagery, the collection captures the distinctive visual language that has made Lulu one of the most compelling emerging voices in contemporary illustration.

Between Humor and Vulnerability

Lulu Lin's work is immediately recognizable. Soft gradients, glowing colors, surreal compositions, and dreamlike characters coexist with titles that oscillate between internet-era wit and quiet introspection.

A piece like What is Love? Baby Don't Hurt Me may begin with a familiar pop culture reference, but beneath the humor lies a meditation on intimacy and emotional openness. Elsewhere, works such as Love was so Gently Born into our Hearts or Even the Purest Magic Cries Sometimes reveal a gentler, more vulnerable side, inviting viewers into moments of reflection without ever becoming sentimental.

Her art embraces contradiction. It is playful yet melancholic, contemporary yet timeless, whimsical while remaining deeply human.

Images That Feel Like Memories

Rather than depicting straightforward narratives, Lulu constructs emotional landscapes.

Flowers bloom with impossible intensity. Faces emerge from darkness. The moon becomes a character. Colors glow as though illuminated from within. Each composition feels less like an illustration and more like a fragment from a dream that lingers after waking.

This ambiguity leaves room for personal interpretation. Viewers are invited to bring their own experiences into the work, discovering different meanings with every encounter.

From Taiwan to an International Audience

Based in Taiwan, Lulu Lin has built a growing international following through her unmistakable visual identity and multidisciplinary practice. Her work has appeared across exhibitions, publishing, fashion, and music, demonstrating an ability to move effortlessly between fine art and contemporary culture.

She has also collaborated with acclaimed Irish band Fontaines D.C., contributing artwork that reflects the same poetic sensitivity found throughout her broader practice.

Art You Can Live With

This collaboration transforms Lulu Lin's imagery into collectible skate decks and archival fine art prints.

Each edition has been produced with the same attention to detail that defines every THE SKATEROOM release. Whether displayed individually or collected as a series, the works celebrate skateboarding as a unique canvas for contemporary art while preserving the richness and atmosphere of Lulu's original compositions.

The Collection

The collection features eight limited edition skateboards and limited edition prints.

Each skateboard is released in a limited edition of 20, the triptych of 50, while each fine art print is available in a limited edition of 50, making every piece a rare opportunity to own Lulu Lin's work in a new format.

Lulu Lin reminds us that beauty often exists in fleeting emotions: moments of joy, uncertainty, longing, and hope that resist easy explanation. This collection celebrates those in-between spaces, translating her intimate visual poetry onto skateboards and prints that blur the boundaries between functional object and collectible artwork.
