Vik Muniz (b. 1961, São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian artist celebrated for transforming unconventional materials into intricate, large-scale images that explore perception, representation, and the history of art. Working with materials ranging from chocolate and sugar to garbage, thread, and toys, Muniz carefully constructs his compositions before photographing them, making the photograph the final artwork.

Blending sculpture, photography, and conceptual art, Muniz often recreates iconic artworks and familiar images through unexpected materials, inviting viewers to question what they see and how images acquire meaning. His practice also engages with social and environmental issues, most notably through his acclaimed Pictures of Garbage project, created in collaboration with waste pickers in Rio de Janeiro.
