THE SKATEROOM presents Jean-Charles de CASTELBAJAC
Visionary creator, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac anticipated what today constitutes the bases of new creation and invented the concept of collaborations with brands, himself having worked with Swatch, Weston, Kway, Aigle, Vilebrequin, Palace Skateboards, Sézane, and many others.
His artistic universe is based around a chromatic range of blue, yellow and red – one of the biggest representations of which was to dress Pope John Paul II for the World Youth Day in 1997. He has collaborated with many artists including Keith Haring, Lady Gaga, Robert Mapplethorpe and Pedro Winter. His art is also expressed through installations, chalk street art, drawings and paintings. From 2018 to 2022, he designed collections for United Colors of Benetton. In 2021-2022, his artistic work was the subject of an exhibition entitled “The People of Tomorrow” at the children’s gallery of the Center Pompidou
By drawing the cut-out guardian angel for his collaboration with THE SKATEROOM, Jean-Charles DE CASTELBAJAC thought of the heroism of skateboarders, their chivalrous community and the eternal youth of the daring. The edition was created to give these conquerors wings.
