F-111 Solo A (Tire)

In this first collaboration with the James Rosenquist Foundation, The Skateroom presents the American pop-art master’s work, F-111, across four limited skateboard editions. Painted during 1964-65 – in the middle of one of America’s most turbulent decades – the art piece addresses the connection between the Vietnam War, consumerism and advertising. Part of MoMA’s collection, F-111 is a dramatic parade of juxtapositions, highlighting the sinister contradictions of 60s America.  In F-111: Solo A (Tire), The Skateroom focuses on the detail of a Firestone tire, superimposed over the colorful fuselage of the infamous fighter-jet.

Buying Guide

“Printed Signature on the deck” refers to the printed signature of the artist included on the top-print. Most decks feature this printed signature, though some specified editions can also feature a hand signed artist signature.

Art for Social Impact is at the core of who we are and what we stand for. We donate up to 25% of profits to support social projects. The percentage donated depends on several factors such as the edition, the price, the retailer’s margin, the royalties paid to the artists and foundations. Since the start of The Skateroom in 2014, we’ve donated more than $1,000,000 to support social projects empowering at-risk youth around the world.

In 2019, we became a Certified B Corporation. The Skateroom is also CO2 neutral, chooses to source its skateboard wood from certified sustainable forests, and uses water-based ink for its prints.

These editions of artwork are intended for decorative purposes. While you could definitely skate on them if you wanted to, we provide you with one wall mount per deck to hang them on your wall, just like a painting.

We provide you with everything you need to hang your boards up. It’s really easy to set up and you can find all the instuctions right here. Our team is also always ready to help if you have any additional questions.

You have up to 14 days after receiving your order to request a return. The 14-day return policy is applicable on all products except limited hand-signed editions. We will provide you with a return label to send us back the purchased edition in the same condition as when received, with the original packaging and documentation.

The Skateroom makes art accessible to everyone by delivering WORLDWIDE.

“Jim felt strongly about supporting artists, children’s health and educational opportunity, and would be thrilled to see his images on skateboards that support building new schools and providing recreational activities to children in need.” Mimi Thompson Rosenquist

“In F-111 I used a fighter bomber flying through the flak of consumer society…. This wraparound painting was installed in the Leo Castelli Gallery in April 1965. On a panel eighty-six feet long and ten feet high, I generated incoming, larger-than-life images of angel food cake, tinned spaghetti, a Firestone tire, a beach umbrella, lightbulbs, a hair dryer, and a radiant little girl—all overlaid with hallucinatory realism onto ominous images of an atomic mushroom cloud and a depth charge—luridly splashed along the side of an F-111 fighter plane with the words U.S. Air Force painted on its fuselage.”
