CB HOYO
CB Hoyo’s irreverent multidisciplinary practice — which spans painting, sculpture, and installation — approaches art-world fraud, forgery, and hype with a sense of humor. The self-taught artist, who was born in Havana and now works in Europe, layers pointed, hand-lettered provocations directly over otherwise blank canvases and recreations of famous art historical masterpieces. Hoyo’s satire often derives from his bold juxtapositions of well-known iconography with challenging, cheeky, and self- deprecating statements. The artist has exhibited in New York, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, London, and Milan, among many other cities. Hoyo also runs a thriving merchandise market through his website.
Buying guide
Being well aware that the act of funding in the aid and development sector can not be sustainable, or could even have unintended negative consequences, we are especially careful to support sustainable projects generating positive impact, with the potential to reach systemic change.
For this, we implemented eligibility requirements for selection and keep track of the maintenance and sustainability of the projects supported. We do this by requesting activity reports every trimester as well as impact measurement reports, doing on-site visits, organizing regular calls and keeping close contact with the project leaders.
