What does the Dollar sign really stand for? Greed? Or the ability to create change?
In our iconic new Andy Warhol collection, we see the pop-art legend’s signature technique of repeating the same symbols over and over, until its meaning is deconstructed, even changed. In our latest collection featuring the work of Andy Warhol, the Cow and Dollar Bill motifs take center stage. The Cow Skateboard Editions
Andy Warhol's Cow Wallpaper was the first in a series of wallpaper designs he created from the 1960s to the 1980s. According to Warhol, the inspiration for the work came from art dealer Ivan Karp who encouraged the artist to explore the pastoral image of a cow. Colored in blazing pink & yellow, the wallpaper promptly showed up at Warhol’s shows, pasted all over gallery walls."I never met an animal I didn't like." – Andy Warhol
The Dollar Skateboard Editions
Warhol’s ‘Dollar Bills’ was a breakthrough series of 1961, and 20 years on Warhol revisited the subject, accentuating the elegant form of the dollar symbol. Here again we see Warhol’s technique of repeating the same iconography over and over, until its meaning is deconstructed, even changed.“Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art.” – Andy Warhol
