Original Artwork
Play Hard 3,Benjamin SABATIER
Benjamin SABATIER’s limited collection manifests clearly the critical issue between the concrete material, tertiary activity and the practice of skateboarding. The artist used concrete to produce skateboard art decks which humorously reconsider questions of social utopias and the failures of modernity, which are often present in his work.
The fragments of administrative colored paper, crushed and encrusted on the surface of the boards, were collected from the floor of SABATIER’s studio allowing him to paint directly with the “color of the economy”.

Whether he’s sharpening pencils for 35 hours, creating the IBK kit production structure, seizing on the working-class and militant history of the city of Besançon, reassessing the utopias of modern architecture or deploying a sculptural body of work marked by a construction site aesthetic, Benjamin Sabatier recurrently questions the concept of work, which functions as a yardstick in an approach that seeks above all to inscribe art in a broader socio-economic context.
His artistic vocabulary is made up of raw and accessible materials – brick, concrete, DIY utensils, cardboard, tape, etc. – which he manipulates within the framework of legible manufacturing processes, evacuating all reference to the heroic gesture of the sculptor in favor of a certain literalness that reveals at first glance how the work functions. This “fulgurance”, which is nonetheless polysemous, makes it easy for anyone to reproduce.
Buying guide
You have up to 14 days after receiving your order to request a return. The 14-day return policy is applicable on all products except limited hand-signed editions.
Once you have informed us of your request, we will provide you with a return label so you can easily send us back the product in the same condition as when received, accompanied by the original packaging and documentation.
Through our sales, we mainly finance social projects that use skateboarding as a tool to empower disadvantaged kids and youth anywhere in the world. Some artists have personal attachments to a specific project and therefore prefer that our collaboration supports their chosen cause, not necessarily related to skateboarding.
We provide you with everything you need to hang your boards up. With your edition purchase you will receive the EasyFix wall mounts. It’s really easy to set up and you can find all the instructions right here. You can always upgrade to the premium SnapDisplay wall mounts.

Direct exposure to sunlight might result in discoloration and damage to your editions. To avoid this, we strongly suggest hanging your art-decks away from direct natural light.
There are two different wall mount systems: EasyFix wall-mount or SnapDisplay premium wall mounts.
Being well aware that the act of funding in the aid and development sector can not be sustainable, or could even have unintended negative consequences, we are especially careful to support sustainable projects generating positive impact, with the potential to reach systemic change.
For this, we implemented eligibility requirements for selection and keep track of the maintenance and sustainability of the projects supported. We do this by requesting activity reports every trimester as well as impact measurement reports, doing on-site visits, organizing regular calls and keeping close contact with the project leaders.
