Certainly not worth capturing in this piece. But this is for the viewer to interpret for themselves.

Jules DE BALINCOURT is known internationally for colorful, radiant paintings that meditate on the social, political, and cultural dynamics of an increasingly globalized world. Shifting from a broader sociological view of borders, territories, and nation-states in his map paintings, the artist’s psychological landscapes bring us closer to humanity’s troubled relationships to natural and urban settings. Dissolving the boundaries between individuals and their environments reveals tensions created by privilege, geographic mobility, and labor. The artist’s social commentary is present even in the most luxuriant, fantastical settings that speak to urgent realities of contemporary life.

THE SKATEROOM is proud to unveil four hand-signed limited edition artworks from artist Jules DE BALINCOURT, and one unique ORIGINAL ARTWORK, created using a skateboard as its canvas. In his first collaboration with THE SKATEROOM, Jules DE BALINCOURT releases a collection as part of 2022’s Brussels Gallery Weekend event at THE SKATEROOM GALLERY on September 8th.

As ever, 10% of all revenue from the collection goes directly to creating lasting, social change in the lives of at-risk youth. In this case, Jules DE BALINCOURT has teamed up with 7Hills, a social skate project working out of Amman, Jordan, empowering the diverse community of children and young-adults through skateboarding, arts and crafts programs.

Buying guide

CoA is short for certificate of authenticity. CoA’s are either signed by the artist or THE SKATEROOM in order to validate the editions. It is specificied on each product page if a CoA is provided with the edition.

We provide you with everything you need to hang your boards up. With your edition purchase you will receive the EasyFix wall mounts. It’s really easy to set up and you can find all the instructions right here. You can always upgrade to the premium SnapDisplay wall mounts.

Our team is also always ready to help if you have any additional questions.

These editions of artwork are intended for decorative purposes. While you could definitely skate on them if you wanted to, we provide you with one wall mount per deck to hang them on your wall, just like a painting.

Direct exposure to sunlight might result in discoloration and damage to your editions. To avoid this, we strongly suggest hanging your art-decks away from direct natural light.

We make a commitment to the social projects we fund: at least 10% of our revenue goes directly to them. Working with our partners, we help empower at-risk youth, build new skateparks and develop education facilities & resource programs. Since 2014, we have generated over $1,500,000 to support social projects around the world.

In 2019, we became a Certified B Corporation. THE SKATEROOM is also CO2 neutral, chooses to source its skateboard wood from certified sustainable forests, and uses water-based ink for its prints.

THE SKATEROOM makes art accessible to everyone by delivering WORLDWIDE from our warehouse in Belgium.

We do ship our artwork using UPS EXPRESS for fast delivery. Shipping estimates will be provided in the checkout process, once you enter your delivery address. Typically we process and ship your order within 48 hours (except for editions in pre-orders). You will get a tracking number to follow your shipment. It usually takes 2-5 additional business days to arrive with UPS express, depending on your location.
