A mobile skatepark in Athens, a group of young people teaching refugee children to skate, a camera following their journey. A political, sensitive, redeeming short documentary that talks about the small utopias forming in the heart of contemporary societies in turmoil.

Celebrating Henry Taylor: B Side with new limited skateboard editions with MOCA.
In the artist’s inaugural collaboration with THE SKATEROOM, three limited skateboard editions (a solo, triptych and pentaptych) are being released to raise support for Skateboarding Pakistan’s construction of the country’s first skatepark. The collection is released on November 6th in tandem with MOCA’s Henry Taylor: B Side show, the most extensive museum presentation of Henry Taylor’s work to date.

Leaving Afghanistan: Three Women Starting New Lives after the Taliban
Over the eight years we’ve been funding Skateistan’s mission to educate young people around the world through skateboarding, a lot has changed. Immense growth, thousands of smiling faces, and even an Oscar-winning documentary. But no change has been so dramatic as the one that took place in August 2021, when Taliban forces seized control of Afghanistan once again. The Taliban is making the future of woman in Afghanistan uncertain.

Meeting Jago Stock, the 19-year-old filmmaker documenting Jamaica’s flourishing skate scene.
His two older siblings were born in India, a country that he’s visited often, and he never travels without a deck – or his camera. In June 2021, his twin passions came together in the most intense trip of his life: a six week volunteer placement in Jamaica. Arriving at Kingston’s new Freedom Skatepark (a Concrete Jungle Foundation project which THE SKATEROOM funded back in 2020), Jago started teaching photography, skating and set about filming for what would become the sensational Freedom To Flourish documentary. Had he imagined what community he would find growing in the midst of a global pandemic? We wanted to find out.
